This is an amazing, quite unorthodox, creative and depictive book!!!!.

The best I've seen so far in my 10 year career period in the field of Neuroscience. This book cleary highlights or redacts the most representative theories in the field of consciousness and cognition. It has a spectacular table or figure about the most representative theories of consciousness and even more important how consciousness emerges.
The book describes very well the Neuroepistemological inception as an important necessity in science, as important as philosophy is to science. The whole tenor of the explanation offers a pragmatic resolution of basic and general questions or problems in the field of neuroscience.
The most relevant feature of this book is the theory of Neuroepistemology, it describes with scientific accuracy or precition what it would be the neuroepistemological approach to understand how the brain really works.
The most important neuroepistemological problem is to study the neural networks that structure or build the human self or ego, and confront them with the machines with artificial intelligence. Many scientist believe that machines have the potential to be conscious (Vrg. David Chalmers). Also, it has a very ironic depictive and funny phrase that relates to David Chalmers theory (Do you want to be my Zombie???).
The book accurately addresses the basic states of consciousness and the amplified states of consciousness (also incorrectly called "altered states of consciousness"). Moreover, the book goes one step beyond anything I've ever seen and analyse the existence of the so called "Time Neurons".

You'll really enjoy this book, I don't know who this guy (the author) is (He's not in pubmed), but I really want to chase him and meet him. I'm quite fascinated by his unorthodox approach to study neuroscience and everything, because everything relates to neuroscience, and neuroscience is related to all that is.

Excellent All Round Fitness Book

I bought this book about two weeks ago and it's just wonderful. It covers every kind of fitness that a woman may want to undertake, aerobics, bicycling, walking, stretching, swimming, resistance training, pilates, yoga, you name it. The best thing about this book is there are detailed steps with illustrations detailing each exercise. The author emphasizes that some exercises may be difficult at first, remembering everything in the right sequence, but not to be discouraged. The author also shows which muscles are being used, anatomically. Flexibility and stretching are highlighted, and different workout routines have been assembled. For those women who like to exercise at home, this book is the next best thing to having your own personal trainer.

For those new to FITNESS

So I've been working on getting fit most of my life...but here recently I've gone all out. I've been reading this book off and on for the past 3 weeks and finally realized that I've already attempted much of the ideas, exercises and tips. Even though I haven't seen much change on the scale the inches have started to fall away. While this is a great start it is not the "be all end all" that I thought I would be. For those that are starting on the fitness journey this is a wonderful place to start...for those experienced in the exercise world this ain't for you.

This is a comprehensive, well written, easy to follow book. The author is obviously knowledgeable yet able to give explanations that are understandable and helpful to those who are not personal trainers. The exercises and workouts are excellent. I highly recommend this book for those who want the benefit of a personal trainer without the financial obligations.

A gem of a book

A tour de force. Corrigan manages to provide literary, historical, mythological themes and contexts that illuminate current practice and belief.I found the details of this book enlarged my understanding of why and how these religions have many common strains and where they depart from one another.It also explains how the traditions of each,along with the practice,ethics and politics keep each vital enough in different countries and changing times to keep them going. A very weighty and multidimensional subject written with much grace. It's not only excellent as a reference book, it also holds up as a fascinating read.

Excellent place to start

Several years ago I was introduced to this book in a college course on Judaism. I was very impressed with how helpful the book was in terms of providing articulate and insightful overviews of the subject matter. Finding the book so helpful in expanding my understanding of Judaism, I returned to it a few years later to learn more about Islam; I was not disappointed. Overall, the book is very good at providing the student with a solid foundation of knowledge on a wide variety of issues germane to studying each of the Western traditions - issues like how each tradition articulates its unique form of Monotheism, how each views its scripture, and how each approaches issues like ethics, religious law, authority, religious politics etc. In sum, the book is a great place to begin one's study of Western traditions because its very organization makes the unique contributions of each tradition, and its relation to the others, easier to comprehend.

While this book provides a very informative review of each of these religions, and the students in my class benefited a great deal from the material presented, I found the writing style to be exceedingly dry and difficult to read in most chapters. I was also somewhat dismayed at the way a great deal of the material on the Christian and Jewish faiths were presented. I think that if the authors were going to present their own perspective, they are entitled to do so. However, they should point out that it is their own perspective. I think some of the material was so slanted that it could be argued that the information is incorrect.

A Look At Computers And Computer Manufacturing

Robert X. Cringely, a former Apple employee turned tech gossip columnist, provides us an interesting book about Computers and Computer Manufactuing in Accidental Empires. It provides the reader a lot of information about the arguably the biggest industy in the world from its humble beginnings until the time (1996) it was written which happens to be the peak of its explosion during the 90's when the internet provided a major impact to everyone lives. It presents us the important people behind it such as the late Steve Jobs,Bill Gates and many others. Also included are the new major companies in Silicon Valley. Although this was written twenty years ago, it still remains a great book and it will give us a better appreciation of the things that happened back then and the years to come. People in the IT industry will surely appreciate it.

Focusing on the Process can Achieve Greatness

Ever wonder where that "Smart Phone" in your hand came from? I'll tell you where ... it came from men and women who worked in companies that had one goal ... and only one - "SUCCEED ... or die trying." Don't get me wrong ... every human being lives their life pursuing goals But whereas most of our human goals derive from immediacy and "needs" - the goals in THIS book derived from "wants" and previously non-perceived VISION of how to mold the future. Robert Cringely wrote an OUTSTANDING book with wit, clarity and unabridged humor that described the entire gamut of efforts by virtually EVERY major player that was blessed to have this "vision" of what tomorrow will be like ... by chronologically describing the PATH of how your "Smart Phone" of today became so smart. Though the details he provides would stimulate the senses of a "nerd-type-teckie", he wrote it in a style that can also be easily understood by any high school student. I would recommend this book as an ESSENTIAL READ for ANYONE who is even REMOTELY thinking of starting their own business. I rate it FIVE-and-a-half Stars. It's JUST THAT GOOD.

Change of pace

Tired of reading fawning novels about the movers and shakers of the computing age? Tired of reading tired knowledge passed off as far reaching vision because the author happened to be in the right place and made a pile of money?
This is the book for you. Robert Cringley has no reason to be nice to anyone since (1) he writes a column on the dirt of the industry and (2) his name is a pseudonym.
So, the gloves are off, and no holds are barred.
Of course, there are a few of Cringely's laws, and some of those tired bits of vision (broadband. It's the next big thing, as of 1996. Spitting distance to 2001 and I'm still waiting!).
The addendum to the 1996 edition is interesting, since it's less predictive than the 1992 edition. Sometime between 1996 and the present, things changed in ways that no one expected, and the predictions are rather amusing. In 1992, looking at the 'new' 486s and looking at the future, the vision is true.
If you want to see someone analyze everyone's personality defects, in depth, this is the book for you. If not, there's plenty else to read.
I'd recommend this work.
