not my thing

I finished reading it because I paid for it. It should be in the inspirational romance section in my opinion. I really wish I had known about the religion bent before I purchased the book. Oh well.

Frustrating and disappointing.

The characters were one dimensional, the plot flat and unrealistically simple. I've enjoyed all of Catherine Anderson's books but this one irritated me. It looked like large sections had been edited out in the middle of chapters leaving huge gaps. The "action" consisted of two episodes separated by saccharine dialogue, scanty and minimally descriptive sex scenes, and none of the character development I've come to expect from her other novels. I've worked in shelters with victims of domestic violence and honestly felt insulted at her depiction of it. All in all, a huge disappointment.

Couldn't Make it to the End

This book started out sooo good, I loved it. It was exciting and the characters were likable. Then by the middle it got a little corny, the male character all of a sudden started calling the female character "honey" and called her "Mandy" instead of "Amanda". This was way too soon, as their relationship was not matching this level of familiarity yet. Also, we are reading about an abused woman on the run. In reality she would still be skittish and unsure considering the amount of time she has known this man. Even so, I kept reading...The author introduced the whole family, which I feel was in efforts to lay the ground work for future books. This was boring, and took too much time, therefore interrupting the main storyline. I still kept reading, the story finally got so boring I had to stop. Note to authors: quality over quantity. I'm sure readers would prefer to read a shorter book that stays on point and is entertaining. Normally, I really enjoy Catherine Anderson's books, this one was the exception.

An Unexpected Hidden Gem That Is Worth Its Weight In Diamonds

"The 50th Law" by 50 Cent & Robert Greene is a unexpected hidden gem that is worth its weight in diamonds (as are the rest of Greene's books).

The main idea of the book, "The 50th Law", is fearlessness. The authors details and conveys how to achieve this through ten chapters each centered around a principle or "law" if you will. 50 Cents life is used as the main template/reference for each principle (and the overarching fearlessness law). However Greene also makes use of other stories throughout history for this purpose as well.

Overall I feel the book delivered on its purpose. It's able to convey it's lessons well through both story and reasoning. Also it's alot shorter and less textbooky than Greenes other books so that's a plus.

Personally the book was inspiring. I of course had been a casual fan of 50 Cents music but I had no idea that behind the scenes was a man who overcame so much and intelligently clawed his way to the top.

As for Greene this was my first book I read by him (well actually I'm reading it and The 48 Laws of Power at the same time). And it was so good that I read through it quickly and went out and bought all of Greenes other books.

Greenes books paint a picture of reality as it is not as some want it to be. They give you the tools to protect yourself and thrive in the world. Honestly I feel like I've been given dynamite or the ten commandments after reading all his books. They are that powerful and good.

So do I recommend this book? Absolutely for yourself and maybe your spouse or kids (so they can survive and thrive too). However I would advise you to not go around blabbing off about what you learned. When so many other people suck it makes it easier for you to stand out. A good magician never reveals their secerets.

If you read this book also at minimum read the 48 Laws of Power. Also check out Greenes other books.

What is fear anyway?

Mr. Greene's treatise about fear and its fundamental causes is essential in today's world. If one looks at our society as a whole, and tries to look as deeply as possible, one can see that most of one's actions and those of others are made up of fear based choices. By that I mean, people often choose things based on fear and may not know or be fully aware of it. This book opened my eyes to my own fears and forced me to see what really frightens me. Now that I'm clear on those things, I have a better understanding of how to deal with or even eliminate these unnecessary emotions. This book taught me that fear is just something you experience when you're not really prepared for something that matters to you. Think about it.

I returned this book. I found it outdated, and did not see the many scripts that another reviewer spoke about. If you are looking for an academic book on hypnotherapy, I highly recommend Michael Yapko's Trancework. Yapko wrote the introduction to this book, which is one of the reasons why I bought it, but it turns out that he emphasizes the author's contribution to the field of hypnosis some decades ago, and not the material in the book.

Lovely, great quality

These notebooks are great! They are beautiful and so well made. With 3 different cover designs, the cover material is somewhat textured and the "Notebook" font on the front is lightly embossed printed in gold ink. The inside cover is also printed in gold ink with a lovely pattern. O the inside it has lined pages with gold print. These are almost too beautiful to write in! They would make great gifts!

These are Knock Offs

These notebooks had the same "design" but felt much flimsier than the prior set of 3 Rifle notebooks I'd bought before. Put side to side with a Rifle paper co notebook I bought before, these are clearly knock offs. The cover is flimsier, the pages are thinner, the labeling on the back doesn't say "rifle paper co" and the back inside cover/label says "Rifle Inc" instead of "Rifle Paper Co." on the real notebook. If you're fine with a less durable notebook, these are fine, but it's false advertising to say it's made by Rifle Paper company, because these clearly are not. If you are actually looking for the high quality Rifle paper co notebooks, buy the real ones.

GEORGEOUS!

This product is GORGEOUS! I am hiding it from my daughters because I know they will want the two books I'm not yet using. I bought this so I can start a gardening journal and it is perfect. I love the gold lines on the pages and the cover. The only fault, for my purpose, is that I doubt this will wipe off easily if I get any dirt on it. So I'm being sure to not take notes while actually gardening or near my gardens, but instead write my notes at the kitchen table when I'm done for the day. I also prefer pages that are perforated so that I can rip sheets out in case of a mistake or for any purpose. The way this journal is bound, I suspect the pages will fall apart/out if I did that. But I am still in LOVE!
